South West Acoustic Circle – Newsletter 5 December 2025

Hello, friends of South West Acoustic Circle!

We had a long break and lots of things happened while we took a well-earned break in 2025. We got a new identify, became incorporated, our own ABN and also this new website.

We are now our long anticipated Year-End Camp-Over from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 December. But before then we will be collaborating with Greenbushes Acoustic to deliver some Christmas Carols in Greenbushes.

1. Christmas Carols at Heritage Park in Greenbushes on 12 December

Join us for some sing-along Christmas cheer on Friday night at Heritage Park in Greenbushes. Bring your family and friends and a picnic plus everything else that you need. The event is lead by pianist Robyn Womersley and supported by members of Greenbushes Acoustic. Song books will be provided. There will be stories and poems too. We have invited local resident Barry Perks again to share his memories on Christmas in Greenbushes over the years. If you would like to share a story or poem too, please let us know. Free event, all welcome.

2. Year-end Camp-over in Greenbushes – Cricket Ground on 19-21 December.

Join us for some or all of a weekend filled with live music and more. We will include performances and acoustic circles, may throw in a workshop and have jams during the weekend as they arise. Please bring your own chair and everything else to this free weekend. We will camp at the free camp ground North side of town, close to the historic cricket club.

First gathering will be a Sunset Jam on Friday 20 December from 7pm at the Clubhouse. Bring a plate of food to share if you wish and your own chair. There is no electricity at the shed, so bring a few lamps. We will put up bunting as usual.

Saturday morning is free for you, catch-up with friends or join the Kris Kringle morning tea at the Greenbushes Community Garden, venture around the region or just check out new or old places.

Saturday afternoon we have space for workshops and a scheduled Ukulele Jam between 3 and 4pm for you. Please remember to bring your own chair, and a music stand.

Saturday night we will gather from 6:30pm for Lyrics by Lamplight, a performance setting with a blackboard concert, acoustic music, stories and poems will be well received.  Once everybody had a turn, we will jam until we have enough music and bush poetry. Please bring your own chair and refreshments.

The camp-over will conclude on Sunday morning with an Acoustic Circle at the shed from 10am to 12 noon.

Feel free to share the below poster with your friends, but don’t tell the world, as camping capacity is limited. Invite people who you think would enjoy the music, poetry and friendship.

Whilst this is a free event, your donation is much appreciated, especially to cover the cost of the website.

3. Acoustic Music at the Boyup Brook Hotel

The Boyup Brook Hotel, is running many acoustic music and bush poetry sessions with ope mic opportunities. Catch up with other musicians and join in for a jam, share a song or just come to listen. You will find a very supportive audience. The Hotel’s kitchen is open too and cold drinks are available. All welcome to this free event.

Best contact is John Matthews, the publican who plays the banjo, or Samantha with the powerful voice. Have a go.

4. Blueygrass Jammers at the Parade Hotel

The Bunbury Blueygrass Jammers meet on the second Thursday at the Parade Hotel. Check out their Facebook Page for details.  This group has a bluegrass focus. They always welcome new singers and players. Or just come to listen, from 6:30pm.
